Matteo Wasescha is a Swiss-Italian actor born on June 19, 2000, in Bern, Switzerland. Raised in the Bern agglomeration, with connection to St. Moritz and Northern-Italy where parts of his family lived. Matteo’s passion for acting ignited at a young age, inspired by Charlie Chaplin’s performances in Modern Times and The Great Dictator. His early interest in the craft was solidified when he was cast as Simba in a local theater production of The Lion King during a family trip to the Dominican Republic.
Matteo pursued acting alongside his education in Switzerland. At fifteen, he participated in the International Presentation of Performers (IPOP) Talent Contest in Los Angeles, where he won three awards. After completing business school, majoring in real estate, and six months of military service, Matteo returned his focus to acting. He studied at the Los Angeles Acting Conservatory and, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, continued to build his career.
In May 2022, Matteo resumed his journey in Los Angeles, working on student films and landing roles in the horror thriller Ladybug and the comedy series Hollywood Adjacent. In early 2024 he landed a supporting role in an untitled Peter Greenaway project, starring Dustin Hoffman and Helen Hunt, which earned him SAG eligibility. Matteo’s multilingual abilities, speaking German, Swiss German, Italian, French, and English, have enabled him to connect with diverse audiences and take on a variety of roles.
